Jordan Poyer was born on April 25 of 1991. The American football All-Pro Strong Safety for the Buffalo Bills started his career at Oregon State, where he was named a consensus All-American. Jordan always had a passion for sports, he was a three-sport star in high school, playing basketball, baseball and football. He was drafted into Major League Baseball by the Florida Marlins in 2009, but ultimately he decided that his future was on the football field.

Studying at Astoria High School he played baseball, basketball and football. Both as a freshman and as a Senior, he won the baseball state championship. In 2009 he was named Oregon’s player of the year, and the same one he was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the MLB. He was also a quarterback and safety for his football team and had 123 touchdowns in 3 years.
He attended Oregon State University and from 2009 to 2012 Poyer played for his College team, the Oregon State Beavers.
Jordan was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft, where he made his professional regular season and recorded three combined tackles in their 33-27 victory to the Washington Redskins.
On October 21, 2013, he began to play with the Cleveland Browns, where he recorded a season-high of 6 solo tackles during a 27-16 loss at the New England Patriots.
On October 16, 2016, Poyer collected 3 solo tackles before exiting the Browns 28–26 loss at the Tennessee Titans, due to an injury. He was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney and a possible concussion. On October 18, the Cleveland Browns placed Poyer on injured reserve.
On March 9, 2017, the Buffalo Bills signed Jordan to a four-year contract, where head coach, Sean McDermott named him the starting strong safety.
On November 28th of 2021 Jordan shared his journey on “The Players Tribune” about his story with alcohol addiction. “I need to do it for my daughter. For my wife. For my whole family. For my teammates. And most of all for myself”, he expressed.
It has certainly not been an easy path for Poyer but luckily, he has had anamazing support system including his family and his Bills teammates. His “It’s okay to ask for help” campaign focuses on letting people know that they are not alone and that they should not feel bad for asking for help.
January 14th of 2022 Jordan was named to his first All-Pro Team
On May 17th of 2022, Jordan’s mission to give back to the community began with the establishment of the Jordan Poyer Foundation.
March 18th of 2024, The Miami Dolphins signed Jordan to a one-year contract.
The first edition of the Jordan Poyer Football Camp, hosted by the Jordan Poyer Foundation, took place on June 18th in Astoria, Georgia. The free football camp impacted over 300 young athletes from the local school districts.
On june 27th of 2022 he hosted his first “Jordan Poyer Open” in Astoria, Oregon. With the help of the sponsors and general public, raising funds to support different community programs in his hometown was possible.
Celebrity Open: On July 11th the Jordan Poyer Celebrity Open was held at the Coral Ridge Country Club. Jordan’s passion for golf combined with his love for the community helped raise funds for the ECMC community.
NFL’s initiative My Cause My Cleats allows players to wear their hearts on their feet while choosing a cause they believe in. During the 2022 season, Jordan supported the Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation (CMH) in their future expansion plans.
